i just recently bought an avp-1 autotune rack unit but am having trouble with it. my rig is simple: tube condenser mic to an m-box mini to my macbook. so i figured, plug my mic into the quarter inch input on the unit using an adaptor, then use the quarter inch out to go to the m-box. BUT the signal isnt loud enough, so i could buy a pre-amp or just use the unit as an insert.

well, i cant figure it out for the life of me. is there some simple step by step guide as to how i can take a signal going into my mbox mini from my mic, and put it through the rack unit in real-time?

I wish you had gotten an answer to this as I have a similar situation. My guess is that a pre-amp somewhere between the Auto-tune rack unit and the M-Box should do it, but it may introduce issues unknown. Because it seems like too simple a fix. Let me know if you've tried it. Email me directly lcbullock@yahoo.com

On page 24 of the AVP manual it specifically says that it has a TS (mono) line in jack and this jack is *NOT* a microphone jack.

So you need to feed the AVP-1 a line level signal, and that means a mic pre-amp BEFORE the unit, but AFTER the microphone, like so:

MIC --> PREAMP --> AVP-1 --> MBOX-MINI

So, you need a mic pre-amp of some kind.
