Mornin' folks,

Just went through my box of crap and found a large diaphragm condensor mic in a blue box. It came with my Aardvark that I purchased a year ago and I haven't put it to use yet. It's an SE Electronics SE2000 and the company was just giving the things away so it makes me a bit skeptical as to its uses.

Anyone used one of these? What would I use something like on? Also, WHICH WAY do I point it? That might sound really stupid but I'm kind of new to this and really don't know what to do with it!

Thanks guys,
-Rick, Detroit

yeah i have the exact same mic that came with my delta1010lt soundcard, except it's called "Cascade M-20" ... but, funny enough, though it's got cascade printed on the mic itself, they still shipped it in an SEelectronics box. Anyhow, it's by no means incredible, but you cant argue with the price, i suppose.

Anyway mine looks different than yours, i imagine, but on mine the side with the logo is the front.

Lol! I'll give it a good look when I get home and give you the specifics on the physical side of it.

What have you used it on, if anything? I'm curious now!

i tried it on guitar. i compared it to an SM57... the 57 up against the grill and the m-20 back a few feet. i liked the SM57 more, to be honest, but it's possible i just dont know enough about how to get a good sound out of a condensor mic.

Congratulations!

You're the proud owner of an ADK A-51...or is it an MXL 2001...or is it a Behringer B-1...or a Nady SCM 900...or hows about a Cascade M20 or a SE 2000 or a....I think you get the picture....

IT'S THE UNICONDENSER!!!!!!!!!!

The Unicondensor, 'eh?

So does that mean it has some uses other than a paper weight?

From the home office in Walla Walla:

Top Ten Uses For The Unicondensor.....

10) If you put it in a pillowcase, it makes a fairly nice weapon at close range. This also works at slightly longer range when attached to a mic cable.

9) I've also had good luck using it as a plug on radiator hoses-the diameter is just about right.

8) In a pinch, it makes an OK rolling pin for sheet cookies.

7) I haven't let my wife use it yet, but, ya' never know...

6) Someone else mentioned a doorstop-good idea, except it tends to roll.

5) Good source of replacement parts for other cheap mics.

4) Remove various parts from 4 or 5 of them, hang them in a circle. Makes a cool wind chime...

3) Buy as many as you can, and sell them for a profit on eBay to people who don't know aqny better. Tell people that the ADK is as good as an MXL, that the MXL is as good as a Nady...and tell them you're a dealer for all of those lines. Instant credibility!

2) Take 2 into Guitar Center and ask them to tell you the difference-this is good for HOURS of fun...

And the #1 use for the Unicondensor......

1) Makes us appreciate the C-1, 2003, and v67......
