So I've never been a Crate fan BUT, I just scored a little VC508 for helping wire a buddy's garage (4 hours). Never seen one before. Thing is brand new as in "in the box with store tag and all". So I took it home and plugged in the strat and WOW! 5W class A goodness. Thing sounds great! Nice tone, great distortion, and bone simple. My AES500 sounded even better. This will make a great pre or recording amp as well as a smokin' practice amp. Love it!
Weird huh?
 
I have the V8 (same thing) great practice amp but it doesn't record all that great.
 
I've heard so much shit talking abotu Crate amps, but I'v gotten them to sound amazing!

I guess I never talked shit about them but never really payed them much attention. The only Crate I ever owned was waaaaayy back. SS unit with wooden sides. Uhmm, it looked like a crate....Anyway, I like this little sucker.
