in sound forge when i save an mp3 it always saves at 64kbps even if the original file is 128 ,160 or higher... when i "save as" i can choose the quality but if i just "save" then it automatically goes to 64.
my question is can i change this somehow? maybe to save everything at 320kbps?

thanks

Yes you can. When you have your wave file up and you hit "save as" and you select MP3, the window that pops up you'll notice another box in it labeled "template". click that and that's where you'll find the different encoding rates.

ok thanks i got that part now... but im still confused

if i open a 160kbps mp3 then normalize it then hit "save" (not save as) shouldnt it save at 160? it doesnt. it saves at 32kbps.
i guess i could go to "save as" everytime instead of "save" but its faster and easier to just hit save. i assumed with "save" it would save at same kbps that the file is originally when i open it in SF(160kbps) but it goes to 32kbps instead.
why is it saving at 32? is there a place to set(change) this default rate of 32kbps?

thanks
