I've saved files as .bun (bundle) to make back up copies of songs, then I burned them to discs. Will I be able to take the discs with these .bun files and work on any computer that has cakewalk? When you save them as .bun, it does save everything right. I dont want any problems when I try to use them on other computers and I want good back up discs.

how about saving files to work in other programs like protools. You save them as MIDI not .bun right and will they really work?

Yes, saving as .bun files (or .cwb in Sonar) allows you to transport the files and use them on other computers that have Cakewalk/Sonar installed.

However, you will also need to have the same plug-ins installed on the other computer as well in order to use the same effects.

---------------

Generally, if you want to work in other (non-Cakewalk) programs, you need to save .wav files (or .aiff for a Mac platform). If you are looking to "mix," you need to export each track as its own individual wave. If going to "master," than a single wave of the entire project should suffice.

You can always (if you're using Sonar 2.1) export them as OMF. I think all of the big sequensers (Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo) supports OMF.

thanks guys, I really appreciate it and thanks for the tip about the plugins :).

ok i had not saved the few plug-ins I used cause i wasnt sure I was gonna use them and there werent many of them. I got an error message when I opened the bun files on another computer : "cakewalk has removed references in this file to real time effects not present on your system. overwriting this file will result in permanent loss of the effects."

that just meant that because I didnt have the effects saved it is not there anymore right? cause everything else like the audio is still there when I tried the bun files on another computer.
