Hi all. I posted this song several months back.
I wrote it for my wife, Not really my style;)
Anyway the first time threw it was wrote recorded and mixed in an afternoon
So it would be ready for her when she got home.
I decided to do a remix to fix some tonal qualities I did not like and I wanted to open it up a bit.

The song is “Just Like (remix)” and the old version “just like

If you want to compare great or just let me know what you think on the remix.

I didn’t go back into the performance at all because this song will always bug me for the fact that I intentionally sang it the opposite of how I was taught
That worked for the wife :D just not me :(

Any way, comments or suggestions appreciated.

Thank

F.S.

Sorry about the double post. It showed the first try did not go threw and I even looked for the thread to make sure

Oh well,

Cool Remix FS

Noticeable difference in the remix - mainly a whole bunch more bottom end (could be lower mids ???). The new mix seems much more full and bold. The rest - especially vocals - are mixed really nice (still). The ending is really cool (I won't give it away)... Looks like leaving a mix for a while then coming back to it works pretty well....

:D :) :D :)

Thanks Ido1957.

It's my first mix in a new enviroment. Not use to it yet. The enviroment is far less bassy which will take some getting used to, but I feel like (from the little time I've had) that things will translate better. I'm at a loss as to that you mean about the end?? Now I have to go listen
thanks again

Didn't you just get some new monitors? How do you like them so far?

Oops - gotta go watch Prince play the Superbowl in the rain. Wonder how you pick which guitar to ruin in a rainstorm.....must be nice.....

Take Care!

:D :) :D :)

Nice tune man.....Good stuff, no nits on my end except that it may be just a bit bottom heavy but, that could be my gear...still trying to get used to it.

No new monitors, I treated my room and it shaved massive bass and treble of the monitor sound. I have BX8's and had totaly retune them and there is still not near the low end but the image is way more clear.

So we shall see. In the long run I will be better off I'm sure, just will take a bit of getting used too. I may end up with a sub jut to check things now and again, but I am gonna give it a good go first.

Well there you go;) were no help to each other at all :D

I'll check it on more systems for the low end.

Thanks Jpw23

Re-mix sounds more open. Everything seems clearer. The original mix wasn't bad, just a little different. I like both. You have a cool voice and i enjoy listening to your stuff. Good job. :)

Thanks Greg L. I was going for more open. On the first mix I tried a mild verb on the whole mix just to see. turns out I'm not a huge fan;) I pulled that off and did seperate verbs and some eq tweeking on everything. Thanks for listening.

I didn't hear the first shot, so I can't compare, but I bet your wife really enjoyed it... I wish I could write good lyrics... Nice piece! There's a bit of quantization klunkiness in the drums, which interrupts the flow just a teeny bit, not bad though. Like the lead work, very expressive...

Thanks for the listen Llarion,

Ya the drums are not as human feeling as I would like. Just got Drumagog so that I can record our drummer and not get so frustrated. My room is very small and hard to get good drum sound out of. I knew I would have to get drumagog anyway if I want to start doing projects for others more.

Very catchy, well done. I havent heard the original. You definitely have a killer voice, excellent singing.

Thanks DavidK,

The original is up there, it just doesn't say "remix" after it.
It's much the same just mixed different. Exact same tracks with no edits.

Thanks again for the listen.

Hey FS, this track sounds great! I love the tone and feel of your voice. Extremely original. Agree with others that the mix sounds full and open, and the bass really stands out well. Drums are a bit sparse, but that works here.

It sounds like there is some sort of flanged electric guitar underneath the acoustic. Is this true? If so, I would love to hear a little more of it in the mix. Of course, I could just have flange on the brain. :D

Anyway, great song! Not "puffy" at all. ;)

Thanks for sharing,

Chris

Definitely a fan of your voice, fs. It fits really well in the newer version. I like the simplicity in the drums, it works with that bass. I feel like the bass a little high in the mix, personally, but I'm not listening with the best speakers to evaluate that with...

besides that I tend to mix the bass higher in some way or another, too... hate cheating those guys when they can really pump out some great lines. guess as long as it sounds good.

Thanks man.

There's no chorus on the guits. Just a touch of verb. I recorded the part twice and blended them. That's what gives it a natural chorus sound.

thanks for the listen and the comments!

I'd be cheating my self on the bass:D Thanks on the voice and the comments. I tested the mix in the car and the bass seemed to carry pretty good, but I will re-listen.

Thanks Again.
