I was in the PA shop today and one of the guys working in the shop was demonstrating this mic to a customer and I was quit impressed, It sounded crips and clear. But i could'nt understand why are they going for so cheap .

£39.00 and Digital Village are selling them for even less.

Some say the samsons have a lot of hiss , is this true on the live condenser mics like the Q7's?

no experience with these, but I bought their Qtom kit a while back and haven't been thrilled. The clips are pretty weak and the mics aren't as rugged as others I've seen. I liked their servo power amp that I bought though. A bit general, but if these mics are anything like the Qtoms in quality, then I wouldn't be surprised if they cut corners.

The frequency response is only 65hz---12Khz.

Is this still plenty to go by for live gigging?

I finally brought the Samson Q7 and yes for the price it has a very warm open sound . its not nasally at all. Plus the bass response is great, this is this mic's strength.
Ok it does'nt have quite the same output as a Beta SM58 but I like the warm clear tone, I was pleasantly supriesed considering it was only £40.00.

As I sing I look to have a few mics at hand and experiment.
