Strange person.
I can get a samson C01 new for AU$109. Other cheap condensors over here like the SP B1 and the berry B1 cost $200.
Is it worth it?

SP B1/ Behringer B1 is 1" large true condenser mic.
Where can you gat a Berry C1 from?lascalaboy said:Would a Behringer c-1 for AU$75 be a better buy than the samson for $109 (ebay..?)?
It is 3 micron, small diaphragm (19mm), hypercardioid pattern, but not electret as it takes 36-52 volts phantom power.billisa said:While I think the Studio Projects B1 is a much nicer mic than the Samson, I don't believe the Samson CO1 is a small diaphragm electret.
Nope. In Australia the list price (off hand) for a V67g is AU$499. SP B1 is $199 and the Behringer B1 list price is $249distortedrumble said:yeap...try looking at any other studio projects mics you can get cheaper too..oh yeah and the MXL 67v should be the same price if not 10 less than the behringer b1 and/or the sp-b1

Contact Nigel at http://www.oceania-audio.co.nz/ ...........they are the SP distributor over there and pricing is usually more than favourable and they're happy to ship across the Tasman.

True, they can and many times do use 48v. But in my admittedly limited experience, electrets ususally specify a voltage range starting at 15 volts or so up to 48-52v.wilkee said:A lot of electret designs use 48v, it is regulated down for the actual voltage req'd in the mic.
I'll email them and see if I can get a price list.ausrock said:Ench,
They don't list products from memory so just email Nigel at Oceania and see what he says.
Distorted,
It's not so much a reflection on wages..........it is the importer/distributor's pricing structures. They want to make their pound of flesh, then the stores have to make their profit.
Apart from Behringer who arseholed their distributor, then set up their own "office" here allowing them to drop prices dramatically, Alan Hyatt/Studio Projects has been the only manufacturer to listen to complaints from Aust., and then make an effort to get his distributor to bring prices down regardless of exchange rate influences.

You'll notice it says "Coming 2004". Also, Music 123 here in the states still lists it as "On order". Somebody there wrote a review of it April 2004 (when it was on sale for $30), but it sounds like BS - I doubt if he's ever used one.lascalaboy said:
