I sit on you.
You all know me, and I'm not one to SPAM or advertise.

However, with a VERY good experience to reference, I feel obligated to give this company some exposure.

You may have seen these budget cymbals on eBay, but Saluda Cymbals are more, MUCH more than that. They have the Mist, Mist X, Mist Brilliant, plus many more high-end cymbals to choose from.

What really floats my boat is the price. For about HALF of what I'd pay to get a "Big 3" cymbal, I get a cymbal Customized to my specifications.

Saluda makes some very sweet cymbals!!!

You can check them out here.

If you want more info, contact me.

Saluda doesn't "make" cymbals. They buy finished cymbals, mostly from China, and then rework 'em a bit. In some cases they don't even do that...just stamp their name on 'em. Saluda is a glorified importer/distributor...hardly a manufacturer.

I've heard it a bit differently... I heard they buy their blanks from China, but do the finishing and hammering... the working of the cymbal is done by them... But the bronze is Chinese... basically a cheaper grade of zildjian/sabian alloy. I'm not 100% sure how true that is, but then again, there are people who love wuhan cymbals, so maybe these cymbals arent that bad.

80% of "making a cymbal" is in making, tempering and shaping the blank. Saluda is not buying raw, flat discs. They are buying shaped, tempered, cupped, hammered, lathed cymbals which could be(and are) sold under other names as 'finished' cymbals. Saluda then goes back and rehammers and/or relathes some...not all. In some cases they just buff them out or apply OTC patina solutions to change the finish. For some of their cymbals, they just put their name on them and sell 'em as-is. The important work...that which dictates consistency and durability...is completely out of the hands of Saluda.

Well, I listened to all the Mist series clips on their site and wasn't that impressed. Sounded comparable to my ZBT's.

jaykemurd, have you made any recordings with these cymbals?

Save your money guys. Those cymbals are bad. Be aware that you may be sold buy a salesman masquerading as a just some guy. If you want good cheap cymbals buy used. Old Zildgian A's and Paiste and Sabian all make good cymbals that you can pick up used. The resale on a Saluda cymbal is going to be next to nothing so your money is going to be burnt when you realize that they are not useable for real gigs.

Use the search function to find my posts lambasting CyclonePercussion or whatever that guys name is when he tries to sell that crap around here.

They're cheap and they sound good enough for me. I actually prefer the custom Saluda 16" crash I got over my Zildjian A 16" Crash!
