VI - thanks! :D thats a totaly cool thing to hear... I have mutilated a few other covers in the past,(Call me by blondie and HeyHey my my by Neil), but this one was probably the best because most of my friends hated it! I sometimes take that as a good sign.:D....thanks for checkin' it out man...
I'm lookin' forward to hearing your next violation!

mixmkr - welcome back! :D I am going to Florida soon as well.. I was wondering about the drum thing........ I didn't really hear it was off until it was mentioned several times.. Had you said that right off the bat, you know this tune would have been off nowhere instantly!.....................................like before! :D
later mix....thanks

Noticed this one while checking out Nowhereradio for anothe tune of yers.

Pretty good. I was impartial to the original and started out impartial, but the tones grew on my. I like your heavy mixing style (especially through these headphones that accentuate the bass freq's).

Sounds like you use d a little Digitech Whammy in the end.

I especially liked the drumming changes at the end. I love drumming changes. I think I mentioned that about that major time change tune of yours. Makes the tune much more interesting than the original.

Vox were a bit low, but it's probably my headphones.

Overall, pretty fun for a cover of a mediocre original. Many people cover tunes because then they're already halfway to a hit. You took a crappy pop tune and made it palitable.

Very cool:cool:
Burned it to cd along with some other tunes from the forum and now I'm driving around town blasting it baby!
I love new takes on old tunes(except madonnas american pie:( )
Keep up the good work!

Hey what kind of wah do you use?

Lopp - thanks. That wasn't the Digitech whammy, it was a Boss PS-5 pitch shifter pedal. I strongly dislike the Digitech Whammy/Wah because it is soo noisy, and it doesnt have a true bypass. When I had that hooked up, it took away from the distortion when I wasn't using it, and it added noise, so I sold it.The Ps-5 is a lot better, it's quiet, and it has some sick effects. It has a very mean octave pedlaish sound, and you dont have to hook up an expression pedal if you dont want. You can set the Whammy speed, depth, etc, and just step on it. When you take your foot off, (in whammy mode), it turns off by itself. I'm obviously not the best guitarist, so I abuse as many effects as I can. The vocals are kept low for obvious reasons..:D I'm always happy when the drums are done because I play drum pads instead of programming, I wish I knew how to program the beats I wanted, it would probably save a lot of time...I record the guitar to a drum machine, and then add my own drums after....thanks for checkin' it out Lopp, I appreciate the feedback..

acid:cool: - I usually use the Steve Vai Bad Horsie Wah, but for this tune I used the new Boss Dynamic Wah AW-3. That was one of the auto wah settings I messed with... This pedal just came out fairly recently and it's got some great sounds.. A lot of different wah types, and also some other sick effects like the 'Humanizer' It sounds similar to a talk box.. There were parts that I used thePS-5, and the AW-3 at the same time..appreciate the feedback dude. Anything else you are curious about, don't hesitate..

you can spank

You can spank if you want to ,you can leave your jizz behind

they're no friends of mine...NICE!!

homo alert! homo alert!

W.I.S.C. - you are a sick boy, I hope you find the help you so desperately need! thanks for checkin it out!:D

heylow - don't encourage him! :D :D

I liked this recording. The levels sound good to me. I agree with a previous post. They should have recorded it this way from the jump. Its always been a good song, it just needed balls. Thanks for adding some to this song. It's going in my playlist.

What drum machine are you using? And did you cut and paste the different drum parts?

Steven

thanks imalion...... It wasn't a drum machine, :) I played an electric drumset. The sound module was a Roland TD-8. I have it hooked up to the cheaper drumpads. I never cut and paste, I usually just keep punching in until I get something halfway decent....This probably took me about 50 or so takes on the drums.... thanks for checkin' it out man!

Yeah, and I won't blast you,...

and say, "if I want to listen to covers, I'll just put on the original cd", or "I have no use for covers, that's what I have the original CD for",... like you did to me, haha.

Sam -

I used to hate this song. REALLY hate it.

Everytime I listen to your version, I like it more and more. It's fun, it's gripping, and it rocks (which distracts from the silly lyrics).

Around 2:19, your 'ah-ah' runs into a guitar lead. Awesome.

The vocals toward the end are so sinister -- adding a whole new dimension to a song I used to hate. REALLY hate.

Thanks for the ride!

:D

Truly a fun cover. Very enjoyable. Did I hear a teeny piece of "Voodo Chile" in one of those leads? I really like where you sorta go double-time for a spell on the beat. And the "one more time" verse is also a great addition.

The only thing I'd add (if I wuz doing this) would be some sort of reference to the double handclaps in the chorus and the 5 claps at the very end (of the original). (Yes, I confess to liking the
original. At least the first thousand times I heard it.)
