Solved Safe insulation

I built the frame I'm going to use for broadband absorbers. Now I need to purchase the insulation.

I was going to consider rockwool/OC 703/mineral wool, but I'm kind of paranoid about having cancerous, health-hazardous fibers leaking into my room.

I'd feel much better about using something less life-threatening.

Will this stuff work well for broadband absorption?

I just want some panels made for creating a deadened space in my room for recording acoustic guitar, like in this picture.

If it will work, how thick should I make each panel?

Actually, I just read up on their website a little more and I don't see a way of ordering online, and there are no distributors in my state.

Is there another safe alternative I could use?

I was thinking of SAFB Mineral Wool before I considered the UltraTouch.

Read the MSDS sheets for 703 and rockwool. Not that they are definitive, but neither has, to my recollection, been associated with any risk of malignancy. If it would make you feel safer, you could cover the insulation with cotton batting before putting fabric over the traps. That would do a better job of keeping any stray particles in place.

I definitely advise wearing a particulate mask while cutting and placing the insulation. Also, vacuum the panels after you put the fabric on the clean up any loose particles.

Somebody over at gearslutz used hemp insulation, but I think he was in Europe. Not sure of the fire-retardant properties of the hemp, either.

What kind would you recommend?

Well most threads I've read through from searching said it can, so that's why I thought it could.

Either way, loose fibers aren't good for you and can cause other problems besides cancer.
