The song stands on it's own even without the drums. Believe me. :)

So you're an Acid user too? I've primarily used Acid sing I started messing with this. Can't really get used to anything else.

Hehe, thanks again ;)

yea its the only thing I have even tried to use. I was using Acid 4 to mess with my old setup, now I am using Acid 6 Music Studio. I may go to Acid 6 Pro or even try a different program if there is a need to. My main thing is I want to use something and learn it well so I know the ins and outs of it and can do some cool stuff :D

well, I got my KRK RP8's tonight and listend to this song and WOW I heard major flaws. Its amazing how much monitors are better than phones when mixing. So I tried my first mix on the monitors and took out the drums.

Give me some feedback on the "mix" and help me become better ;)

Safe For Sleeping Acoustic

Thanks ~

Are the drums a loop or real drums from the first song?

The second mix is a lot better no doubt. The guitar is a lot more full and the vocals are clear and just sound better. Did you add any effects this time?

The drums are from an Alesis SR-16 machine and yes I added slight reverb on lead vox and guitar.

I am not sure I like this acoustic version as and think I may retrack it

Thanks for the listen!

Listened to both versions and like the second one (no drums) best. Very solid rhythm gtr playing and great vocal performance. I like the way you do the vocal vibrato on long tones. Are you going to do a whole bass, drums, elec lead type band arrangement on this?... I'd think even just a lead ac guitar line would fill the arrangement out nicely.

Tim

Hey Tim,

Thanks a lot for the listen! I have always been a fan of acoutsic songs and preferred the unplugged sets MTV used to have etc. So I guess I like the 2nd one better too overall.

Thanks for the compliments too, I appreciate that. :)

I am not sure what I will do with this. I have often thought about adding a bridge and/or solo of some kind. Not sure if I will do the whole bass and drums or not.

Thanks again ~

Cincy, I had a listen to the 'no drums' version. Sounds great!!

You have a great voice Cincy. I love listening to you yodel~!! :D

Can't wait to hear it with some real drums....Actually, I think congas would really set this off and compliment the whole feel of the song.

I also agree with what Tim and Gorty suggested about a lead break....acoustic would keep with the simple, yet powerful emotion, but being a lover of things electro....that would be cool too!! :D

Kudos!!

Heyas True! :D

Thanks again for all of your compliments, I used to be in the swiss alps yodeling for spare change :p :p

No, but really, I LOVE the idea of some congas and have always wanted to get some. I dont know how soon that would be but I will try to work something in there.

Yea, the lead/break probably needs to be there. I like the idea of an acoustic lead (which lead is my real weak part)..and I will try to get that in as well.

Thanks again for the listen True ~

Hey Cincy,

I hope you get some Congas. I have 4, but that doesn't help you much. :p

I had to have some more listens to the one with the drums. Actually, I haven't been able to not listen to either version. All day I have been humming or singing it. Just like JaZZ's 'Breathe' and 'Free'. They draw me back over and over.

I have been listening and I really do like the tone and volume of the Kick Bass, even if fake.

I truely believe you have some magic here in this song Cincy. Magic that sprinkles down upon the listener, making it so personal. Geese...the gurl is showing in me now!!

In the nite across the wharf echos in the cold.....is a lonely howl against the dark....a message thats a joy...Inside is a family inside in the love.....I will make it safe for sleeping...I will be right by your side... I will protect you while your dreaming.....where it's safe to be inside...
In the storm the raging seas....tossed ships pebbles in the tide....cat steels against the wind.....will not be denied. Inside is a family inside in the love.....I will make it safe for sleeping...I will be right by your side... I will protect you while your dreaming.....where it's safe to be inside...WOW...those are few words, but powerful they are.

Not sure if I got the lyrics right, but pretty close I believe!! :D

All the best to you in your journey. :) :) :) :) Just watch those Alps!! :D

Thanks True!~

The lyrics are:

In the night, cries the wolf
hear it echo in the cold
His lonely howl against the dark
A message thats age old

Beside him his family, inside him their love

And I will make it safe for sleeping
I will be right by your side
I will protect you while you're dreaming
Where its safe to be inside

In the storm, the raging sea,
tosses ships like pebbles in the tide
captain steers against the wind,
he will not be denied

Beside him his family, inside him their love

And I will make it safe for sleeping
I will be right by your side
I will protect you while you're dreaming
Where its safe to be inside

And I will make it safe for sleeping
I will be right by your side
I will protect you while you're dreaming
Where its safe to be inside

yes you were close ;)

Thanks ~

Was trying to listen but:

The page cannot be displayed.

Hrm, really Bubba?

I haven't changed anything and just played fine for me.

Try again? :)

Link worked for me

:) I just tried and am listening, I had problems with the soundclick link I posted a few days back but I was my own dumb human error

Worked now.

Very cool. Sounds very Eagle Eye Cherry or Remy Zero.

Sounds really nicely done. The quality on this sounds very good. :)

Thanks again Bubba ;)

Funny you mention those 2 band names. When I was in my cover band many years ago, we used to do a cover from both of those bands. Glad you liked :)

I like the song.
I like the 2nd version MUCH more.
You might try the drums again but gentler, less box, less verb etc.
Some subtle, occassional, use of bass &/or electric would add some dynamics.
There's a touch of Placebo to your vocal delivery.

Thanks for the listen Ray. Yea, I think the 2nd song is the winner of the 2. I was thinking about trying some congas for drums as True had suggested, or maybe just get some fake ones that sound close enough ;)

Ya, I think I may add some bass later when I get one, hehe. (I am not crazy about using bass loops at this point)...

I am not familiar with Placebo, so I will have to give them a listen.

Thanks again!

hrm, duh...nevermind Rayc, I have heard Placebo :D

I love that song "Every you and Every me"

I just wasn't putting the name and song together.
