ok well mabye there is someone out there that has a similar tale.
i have a 1,000 sq foot open basement and i planned it all out and had it totally porfessionally built. the walls were double thick and i had 2 pieces of 1 inch glass between the control room and the drum room. tons of outlets to tap into and custom lighting. all of the lights could be controlled in either room as well as by the person sitting behind the console. all of the lights were on master switches behind the board and they are all hooked up to dimmer switches to set the mood. i had it all wired into the breaker panel on 2 seperate circuts. i spent a ton of money on gear getting ready as well as this taking about 2 years to finish the whole thing. i started getting a boner when the drywall went up. i had a ton of people lined up and ready to record as soon as it was finished. than i got a divorce and lost the house right when it got finished. all of my clients went to other studios to record and it all was gone. pretty sweet huh? the really shitty part about it is the people that bought the house after it went on the market gutted the entire basement!!!!! great.
top that.

I spent 10 years in a Turkish prison for a crime I didn't commit.

Wait... No. Yours is still worse...

I had a friend who built a commercial facility. I helped design it and did some of the construction. I recorded there a few times before I got married. He got married just after me to a girl who broke his heart by cheating on him. He was emotionally devastated. During the marriage she stripped him of his desire to do recroding as a business. Told him it was a pointless loser of a job. He lost everything to her. Except he hid alot of the gear away. He never regained the desire to record anyore. He called me one day and said I aint using the stuff and I dont wanna sell it on E-bay, come and get it. I loaded up the van with nearly everything he had on a indefinite loan basis. I told him Id pay him for it, but he refused. He is a really good friend and it crushes me to see him in this state. I hoping I can inspire him like he did for me when he was my mentor. The guy is super smart in all things audio(besides being an aerodynamicist). Im building a studio in my garage. Ill be done in January. Single wall construction inside the garage. six inch exterior walls, isolated circuits and everything I need. Weird. I moved a pro studio into my house. It sad, but I feel good at the sametime. He felt he could trust me with his gear and said my (mix)engineering skills were above par(giggle)). Im going to name the studio in his honor. but I havent found a name yet. This is the happiest sad story Ive ever told.

SoMm

Well... today my studio was robbed. They stole my D8b and about five guitars and a bass amp. Ive got a 12 month lease and no way to make money.. fun! Ohh yeah and we dont have insurance.

Sorry if this sounds melodramatic... im just in shock and am venting... later

shit BuildingStudios!!

oh well at least SoMm has got himself a studio. :)

I did a design for a studio in Sydney. It was in a building next to the big new Darling Harbour redevelopment but they were assured that the building would stay.

So they built it completely, filled it with gear and then were told the building had to go!! So they pulled it all down and they demolished the building.

they were compensated but shit?? slack organisation...

cheers

Sorry guys, some people are just plain asses..

You should always try to bury your mistakes, preferably right under the footing of your new studio.
