Just another guy, really.
While running down a garage sale today, I thought I found it and walked up the driveway. Nope, no garage sale- just a garage-full of stuff put out on the driveway. A few basic steel shelves, a red-painted bed headboard, and... a freakin' GRAND PIANO, legs removed, sitting on a few pillows, uncovered, top off, just laying there. It was a Baldwin, SN clearly visible, and all the parts were there, keys still depressed when I hit them, strings still sounded- but not one of the keys would return to the up position. It had noticeable rust on strings, etc, so it must have been rained on, at least once and several days ago (I think the last rain we had here was early in the week.) Now, I imagine a Baldwin is not anything like a Steinway, Yamaha or Kawai, but come ON, why leave an instrument OUT IN THE FREAKIN' RAIN?? It almost made me cry.
