hi , im totally new to computer recording. i have a band and have had sucess recording demos on cubase sx. some articles i have read say that the waves plugins are the best for mastering(l1 and c4). being a newbie, how do i run these plugins? should i use the waveshell? i also heard that waveshell is not required and that it causes more troubles than it is worth.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

my system is a pentium 3 , 800 mhz. delta 1010lt, 640 mb, 60 g hard drive.

To run Waves plugs in Cubase SX you just install em ( you tell em where your VSTplugins dir is during installation), then run SX, select a track, got to insert or send effects, scroll down to the bottom where it says Direct X Plugins and they will all pop up.

Piece of cake :D

no problem. i downloaded waves 14 day trial version. it seems pretty good. 1400.00 is a little to much for me to spend just for the little bit of demos that i do.

thanks
p.s is there anything a little cheaper that is comparible to the ultramaximizer?

For Ultramaximiser type stuff have a look at T-Racks (IK Multimedia) or a plug-in called Dynasone by Prosoniq.

Thre are prolly others too.

thanks for the info. i find that the ultramaximizer eats up a lot of my power.

I wouldn't say it is comparable to Waves stuff by any means, but the MDA multiband compressor is three or four bands - can't remember off hand - and it's FREE!! (and actually pretty decent too)
