"Run For Your Life"- New Song

Sam, I was just going to send you a personal message on this, but now I'm hoping someone (maybe Mixmkr?) can help me with this. Because I totally agree with you. The "atta boys" have been encouraging, but I'm NOWHERE NEAR where I want to be.
Now, I don't know if it's my dynamic mics (Shure) which I'm asking about in a mic forum thread. Or if I need a good preamp. Or just better EQing. Or if a Mastering house would do the trick at some point. I'm also thinking of switching to 24 bit, which I mentioned in your last thread after I found out you did. Because there's no denying your gits rule.
I know I more or less just started doing this, and there's a lot to learn. But who the hell wants to spend $500 (or more) a day in a studio when we have all this technology at our disposal, and all we need is brains and commitment?
Some days, you make me wish I didn't leave Long Island...I wonder what we could have done...:D
Thanks for the help AGAIN...

Hey SluiCe,

I went mic shopping the other day and the sales dude at Mars Music told me that the sm57's aren't all that one would think. I won't bore you with details and possible motives but, if you've only one mic, I'd definitly just grab as much cash as you can spend and get a new one. Especially if you're recording with only 57's. I spent about $350 on a mic and then (weeks latter) pre amp with little know how and only a couple hours of research on each. My vocal chain is soo much better. I'm sure there is something better out there for me but, I can HEAR and feel the improvment with the little research I did. Not much money for a learning curve, I say. Unless you're sinking big cash into the purchase, I say go out and make an upgrade even if you're not sure it is perfect for you. If you want perfect for you, you will be looking at big money anyway.

I can't wait for the remix of this tune. I have another page of suggestions but, I figured you'd had enough:)

If I'm gonn spend less than $300 I tend to be bold and spontanious with my purchase. I figure I'll know that is sucks right away and just return the thing. More often than not, I like it for what it is an proceed to gleen all the positives I can from the new purchase..

Don't listen to me though...............listen to you.

Theron.
