Royer sf-12, Millennia, Lavry *Mp3 Sample*

Hello,

I'm fairly new to recording and would appreciate your advice in general or specific terms. Recorded acousting violin + yamaha 5'7" grand piano (lid closed). Used MS technique with mic about 4 feet from violin. "M" fader up at "4", "S" faders at "0". No e.q. or reverb.

I'm liking the piano a lot.

I'm not liking the tone of the violin. It could just be the violin.

What is it about the violin do you think? Does it sound a little 'grainy', as in perhaps it's too close to the microphone? That's what I'm thinking.

Also, would you add reverb to this?
