Anyone here used royer 121 ribbons. Where did you feel they excelled? Cabs, vocals, acoustics? Also, anyone compared it to the ACM ribbons? Just curious if they're worth the extra cash.

brilliant as room mics on a drum kit. Great on guitar cabs. If that's the sort of budget you've got look at Coles 4038 and Coles 4040, the latter of which is probably the best ribbon I've ever heard (and it looks great too!).
Coles were the company that manufactured ribbon mics for the BBC in the '50s..

Thanks for the rec. I hope I get another crack at one.Royer has such a smooth sound to it, I really think you could make it work on just about any instrument. I would strongly encourage you to check one out, you won't be disappointed.
