Hey you guys!

So, Meshuggah, what do you think about the Events PS-6/PS-8's?
A bit more expensive, but from what I heard, pretty good imaging, detail, and decent low end (PS-6=45 Hz, PS-8=35 Hz!)...
I'm going to buy my first set of decent monitors this summer, I said $800 max (maybe, if I make a shitload of money, I'll stretch for the Mackie HR624's (not the 824's!), but I think the PS-6's will do the trick for me, as I make rock/metal/surf mostly. and sometimes funk.
Lemme hear what ya guys think, ok?

Never heard any of the other monitors that seem popular. Just make sure you check out Dynaudio's monitors. They make DAMN fine speakers.

Meshuggah,

You must be listening to your Tannoys with snow in your ears.

What can I say.. the Dynaudios set the standard.. hard for a budget speaker to match that...

Don't misunderstand, I'm not implying Reveals are the "be all and end all" of near fields, it's just that you are the first person I have seen to describe them with such negativity. Some of our highly esteemed members seem to have the opposite view to you.

Personally I have found them to be terribly honest in their translation of sound.

(congrats, btw. thinking of doing the same thing... i admire your balls!)

(p.s.: nobody take that out of context, ok? lol...)

As Slim Shady once said.... "These are my balls in my scrotum and you'll never get hold of 'em".

Yeah.. my 'review' sounds a little negative, and maybe a bit more than I intended. I've recently worked with a song that I have had to spend LOTS of extra time with only because of the shortcomings of the Tannoys. If you're making a song with a lot of low bass, it's like solving a crossword blindfolded. I had 3-4 mixes that sounded like armageddon on the Dynaudios.

I never liked those reviews that gives 10 out of 10 to a 300$ speaker and then 9 out of 10 to a 2000$ speaker. I judge from my standards, not from price paid.
I am by no means disapointed with the Tannoys. Quite the contrary. It is very well built, and I think is does a great job for the price paid. I haven't heard other monitors in this price range, so I don't know what I'd have to sacrifice for better high end detail. I'll most likely buy another pair of monitors in the future, and when I do so, I'll most certainly keep the Tannoys.

I guess it depends on how low the bass frequencies are..........so far I haven't been short on bass response from my Reveals.
