Hello all,

Heres my setup

Magix music studio

M Audio USB pre i/o box

M Audio Condenser Mic

sound blaster 16 bit sound card

I having trouble working with the i/o box. When i plug my mic into a channel, XLR, and inst. The signal is processed only through one speaker. Making it so i have to double all my parts in another channel, to make it stereo. Can i change the settings to make it record both speakers? Is this the studio or the box's fault? When i record thru my sound card, it goes through both speakers, but i need phantom power for my cond. Mic. Any info would help. Thanx

i'm not sure , but i think from your explanation i know what your problem is possibly.
i use magix too.
a common mistake is to record mono to a stereo track.
thus you cant pan the signal on playback. is this your problem ?
each track in music studio has a track properties dialogue.
if you bring it up , for a mono recording to a track, set the track property to mono. for recording a stereo track you set to stereo obviously.

also in recording mode if you look in track properties you will see that you can record either into the left stereo channel or the right.
this is normal. or for stereo recording you record into both channels.
if you still have probs get back to me.
but i think your problem is your track properties of the track your recording to are not set properly.
read the manual carefully - and notice you can customise a number of things in music studio to your liking.
for example creating your own reusable track templates.
the way you do this is to set up each tracks properties - either for mono or stereo , then save the template. also if you get fed up with the recording dialogue popping up each time as i did - there is a keyboard shortcut
you can set up. i set mine so i click on a tracks rec button then
just hit one key on the pc keyboard.
also MAKE SURE IN PREFERENCES you have ticked the box that says playback tracks with new recording. this is very important.
if you want other tips/tricks just ask. there are many in this fine program.
but there is a learning curve to understand them all.
hope all this helps.

Thanx for the info. Unfortunatly i wasn't clear enough of my problem. I already tried changing the settings int the studio itself. The problem is with my i/o box. I cuts the signal into 2 channels, one per speaker. Is their a way to change this, so it does both? I spent a decent amount of loot on the box, so i'm sure it can be changed, i've read the maual thru and thru, and spend all of last night trying to figure it out. Do i have to buy a Mic cord with 2 inputs on one side? Thanx for the help.

i'm now confused what your trying to do. could you explain in detail please ?
