vs840 synch

well just follow the manual it does work witk Cake8
most of the probleme is that you expect some kind of message or
screen to tell you it in synch...
it doe'snt it just synch automaticly.
just leave a bit of lag on your track,so you have your slave coming in after the master
if you don't get right email me I'll try to help...
it worked fine for me after a few trials

also for your interess

Well, my 840 is out of warranty (3 years old!) so I got my screwdriver out tonight and tried something I've been thinking about for some time.
I took the bottom off, unplugged the zip and fitted a normal ide cable to an old 210MB ide hard-drive I have lying about. The 840 doesn't have a 12v supply so I had to rig up an adapter cable to feed the 12v from an external power supply to the 4-way plug on the HDD.
I switched the 12v on.
I switched the 840 on.
The drive spun up!
The 840 offered to initialise it.
I said Yeh!
It said I got 80 minutes in mt1, 106 in mt2.
In mt2 I recorded 4 tracks at once, then set them to play while recording the two stereo tracks. No drive busy error.
Still won't let you record more than 2 tracks in mt1 though
As I currently only have a 100Meg zip I am most happy with this. I don't see why this won't work with any hdd up to 2gig! I'll get hold of a 500MB drive soon.
I plan to fit a removable drive box to the 840 ide cable and also one in my pc. The hdd goes in a caddy and I can then back-up my songs on the pc. I don't see why any of this shouldn't work. I might even fit the zip in a caddy.
Obviously, you can't eject the hdd, but select shut down and the drive spindle stops!
It's really quite cool!
Something good had to happen today. The 17" monitor on my studio pc blew up! I have swap-out warranty on it but I'll have to use a 14" spare till next week. Unreal Tounament looks really poxy on that! Oops... what a give away...
Is this a first or am I talking old hat?

could not wait for your reply
tried it and YES it works
the zip is indeed an IDE just need 12 v from old PC supply
formating worked as you said used a 850 mb drive better and cheaper than zip !

THANK YOU

will experiment further , I guess it will take up to 9gig ?? or 2 gig not sure

THANKS
