Roland CD Burner $$$$$$$$$?

So I got the new OS for my old VS-880, which apparently gives me CD-burning capability with the Roland burners.

But I go check out the prices on those burners, & they're nearly $600! That's more than many standalone burners! What the...??

Anyone know a cheap place to get these things, or does Roland just have us all over a barrel?
 
There is a Plextor model that will work. I don’t know how much cheaper it is. And yes, Roland has its customers over a barrel. I remember before I bought a VS880EX, I read the Roland users magazine and they said it would be possible to transfer data directly to a computer. After I bought the unit I found out they had changed their minds and hadn't built the units to do that after all. Liars! :mad:
