Rode NT2 Barely Used (with shockmount) . . .

Will sell if the offer is right.

Outstanding microphone. Multiple pickup patterns, -10 db pad, bass roll-off.

Excells on vocals and accoustic guitar. Switch to omni mode, and it's an outstanding embient room mic or drum overhead.

What can I say? It's just a sweet mic. Only reason I'm selling is because my particular voice sounds better on a dynamic mic (my shure sm-7), and I already have enough guitar mics.

Except when in use, it has always been covered and stored away from dust and/or moisture. It has been babied.

If interested, email me with an offer: snailinajar@yahoo.com

Thanks!

I have since put this up on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1511583827

For those not familiar with the NT2, it is just an unbelievably nice mic. In my opinion, it just has a certain polish to it that is missing in the cheaper Chinese condensers that have been flooding the market. Here's a couple of threads that talk about it quite a bit:

Also, check out one of Bluebear's threads if you want to hear some examples of the NT2 in action:

chessrock - describe your voice

chessrock,

Could you describe your voice? I'm curious as to what type of voice would sound better with an sm-7. Is there anyone that I would be familiar with that you could compare it to? And what is it about the sm-7 that works particularly well for you? I know this really belongs in the mic forum, but I thought you might look here first.

Thanks

Actually, if you'd like to hear an example of it in action, I recently used one for some pre-production work I did for my friend, Adam. It's kind of rough, but it should give you an idea:

I posted it here recently, for the hell of it:

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists...8/singles.shtml

Adam's got sort of punk voice that is reminescent of the Clash. He was looking for a warm and intimate sound (for his voice), yet very present at the same time.

My voice, on the other hand, sounds a little "poppy." I grew up listening to Paul McCartney and the Wings, the Eagles, and Jackson Brown as a kid. Many have told me that my voice actually sounds a lot like Glen Phillips from Toad the Wet Sprocket, and I have to agree. I am a heavy user of harmonies on my own work. A lot of times you'll hear my voice layered with maybe two, three and sometimes four extra tracks of harmony. Just my voice.

What I like about the SM7 is that it is capable of being bright, but without being "shiny" or "glossy." A lot of the large diaphragm condensers out there sound very crisp and clean. My NT2 (or what used to be my NT2) comes to mind. Although this can sound pretty at times, when I layer several harmonies, I kind of shriek and cringe, as the layered voices actually start sounding like one of those Boy Bands. Yuck! I sound like the backstreet freakin' boys ! ! ! Too clean.

The Sm-7 is just very smooth and warm. Not shiny or glossy. My harmonies wind up sounding much closer to the Eagles or Crosby Stills and Nash . . . as opposed to Justin and the 'Boys ! Or is he with N-syc? Oh well, same damn band anyway!

SM7 - NOT for sale.

Dead link

Chess,

Your link didn't work, but aside from that, do you have anything with YOUR vocals on it thru the sm-7, since you prefer it for your voice.

Am I correct in assuming that since it's not a condenser, it's not as sensitive as most condensers, IOW, it doesn't pick up room noise like a condenser, but is more like, say, an sm-58?

Sorry, I guess this should be in the mic forum.

Thanks

You're right, the link didn't work for me, either. Let's try this again:

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/5/1298/singles.shtml

This should work now.

Actually, I just comleted some work on a comparison between the NT2 that I just sold and the SM-7. I am waiting on the arrival of another mic that I just purchased online. I want to do the same with that mic, and get a three-way comparison going.

I will post it shortly in the mic forum, and I will also supply a link on this thread when it's all ready to go.

I've got an MXL 2001p with the 603...both are in Perfect condition!
The 2001 has les than 20 hours of use and the 603 has never been used. If you're interested in these you can e-mail me at alan@spottracking.com with an offer.

Also, I might consider parting with my CAD E100...a great mic in prestine condition and very few hours of use.
