Hi folks i've just joined the forum and am looking for a bit of information and i'll be as clear as i possibly can when explaining my situation.

I've been recoring at home for about 7-8 years and consider myself to have a decent level of understanding about the whole thing. Over the past 2 years i've been using my Rode NT1 mic for recording vocals and have been very impressed with the quality of the mic, but i have now run into a problem and i don't know whether it's down to the mic or the connections (xlr-xlr going through an 8 track mixing desk, into my pc through a 3/4 inch jack adapter).

The problem is this: when recording vocals everything is fine, but when i try and record an acoustic through the mic, after a few seconds a sort of phasing occurs on the signal and the sound ends up very tinny and i have no idea why it's happening.

It's not the sort of thing you can just enter into google and get a million people providing solutions for, so i thought it best to join an active forum to speak to people more clued up than myself in order to seek advice.

If there is anyone here that can relate to this problem it would be very much appreciated if you could shed some light, as i have never had a problem with my current set up in all the years i've been using it. And please, if there's anything i haven't explained in enough detail feel free to fire some questions at me.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you should build up your post count, then put up an audio example.
You'll need 10 posts to be able to put up a link, even though the forum will say 5!

I can't imagine what the problem is, but hearing it might help.

Ok i'll do that, cheers. I felt a bit shady signing up to ask one question, but i was really starting to get worried yesterday as this mic is my pride and joy and i will be majorly gutted if the thing is gubbed.

Really good website yous have though so i think i'll be sticking around :)

Ha cheers for the heads up mate, although i've since found a solution (and no my mic wasn't the problem, thank God!)

Basically there was a setting to do with DC offsetting which was enabled when it shouldn't have been. All good now though!!

Glad you got sorted.

You may as well pull up a stool and hang around; Welcome. :)

Much obliged mate, actually i've been reading the site all day, usually these sorts of sites (the ones i've seen anyway) aren't very busy or don't get updated to often...this is easily the best i've come across so far. There's an abundance of information that i think is going to keep me from my usual 'getting on with life' and not bothering my ass actually recording anything lol.

Yeah, there is quite a large group of us that hang out here on a daily basis. Sometimes we almost know what we are talking about. Other times it is just fart jokes. Welcome to the forum 67. Just don't allow Greg to get under your skin an you will be all good here. :D

Isn't Islam the most favored religion by Muppets and cast characters of Sesame Street? :D Still not sure how to get there, but I know how to get the party started! I really dig me some Muppets!

I'm sorry; I involuntarily skimmed over your post.
