What's to compare? One's a compressor and the other's a mic pre..... no comparison......
 
uhh.. not between the two..

compared to other items in their field, price range, quality..

EG: THE RNP COMPARED TO OTHER PRE-AMPS

and

THE RNC COMPARED TO OTHER COMPRESSORS.
 
Great machines. Lots of headroom. Very clean. Very quiet. RNP has a little bite/edge to the sound as compared to, say, a Sytek. RNC in Super Nice mode will compress almost inaudibly. They look cool in the Funk Logic faceplate....ugly little things without it. Compared to a Presonus Blue Tube/Blue Max combo.....much quieter, much much more headroom, much cleaner, sharper sound image. Everybody needs at least one RNP/RNC. That's about all I know.
 
The RNP I only know by others opinions, but the RNC is a great cheap clean, quiet, compressor. It is simply one of the cheap gear all pros.-Richie

this was second hand and so much cheaper than shelf price and in perfect cond..

maybe i still get the RNC?


but im looking at the avalon mic preamp for next purchase.. any thoughts on this people.. ???

I'm not really impressed by the 737 (Avalon tube channel strip). I do, however, *love* their solid state pres M5 and AD2022. I own AD2022, and it is a workhorse. For tubes, consider Pendulum. Lots of folks will try to talk you out of buying a top flight pre, because it bugs them to see a guy on a permit driving a Ferrari, but you know, you can learn recording with great gear just as well as cheap gear, if not better. I have never regretted spending the money on good mics and pres, personally. I don't think I'll be selling my Avalon anytime soon.-Richie
 
the ad2022 is a little out of my price range with a shelf of 4,000AUD$.

what is the Avalon VT-737SP like? its a thousand $ cheaper..

also what is the difference between the ad2022 and the single mic pre? i would have thought it was the same pre just only one of. explain.. thanks :D
