Just recently we notice a ring in the amp and not quite sure what it is or how to fix it. If you listen to the first song here "wind cries mary" you can here it when ever the guitar is ringing. Anyone have this problem or no how to solve it??

hey

Without signing up to that site and listenning ...

I had a ringing problem in my amp a while back.

In my case, it was the tubes. Needed new tubes.

Specifically, a 12AX7 (small one) in my power amp used to switch voicings.

OK .. I guess you don't have to sign up..

Alright so I listenned to the clip.

Nice clip.

Ok I see what you mean with the ringing.

Either your tubes are tired or you're driving your preamp too hard.

That's my take on it.

Is that amp equipped with a spring reverb?

If it is, then the preamp level may be a bit high for the tank.

There's also a very rich coating of reverb on the tune, could it be the interaction of the strings buzzing on the neck a bit blended with the spring verb then prounounced by the overall verb ?

It's actually my friends amp, I am just trying to help him get it fix. I will talk with him and get back to you, thanks for the info.

I'm at work on a cheapo set of cans, so I could not really hear the ringing issue that you describe. HOWEVER, I had a ringing problem with my guitar playing and spent weeks trying to find the source. It turned out to be the small sections of strings at the tuning pegs. Those things would ring out at annoying levels. FIX : put some sponge under the strings to dampen the ringing. I now have it on all of my guitars.
