Hey Rick,

I'm trying to get ahold of the info that was posted on the old tascam analog forum about modifying the MS-16 channel amps. I remember it was something about swapping an op amp and a cap on each channel, but I can't remember the details.

Anyway, I remember you used to post on that forum, might even have been the one to give the info for the mod, i don't remember who, exactly, it was. Anyway, I was hoping you might know something about it, or know someone who does, or where I might find that info now.

If you can help, that's great, if not, thanks anyway.

Andrew

I remember the mod as being only about changing a capacitor on each channel card.

I own an MS-16 too but, I run it on 456 with dbx so I've never worried about the mod.

It's enough fun to just keep all 16 channels working reliably, never mind goofing with them too to use a hotter tape.

Cheers! :)

Now that you mention it, I remember that the cap was associated with the bias pot for the channel, so it could be biased for hotter tape. I'm certain, though, that there was an op-amp upgrade aswell. I remember looking them up and pricing them out. I think it was 4 per channel and came out to something like $270 to do all 16 ch.
