Ribbon mic between snare and hat

Hi guys, I've been recording guitar and bass a bit and considering that I have only been recording music in my humble apartment, I usually just write MIDI drums instead of micing up a kit.
Evidently, I am quite the noob.
That aside, I usually use a Legacy Axis 70 for guitar, which is a copy of a Royer 121, which IMO sounds pretty fantastic.

I was intending to have a friend drum for one of my EPs and recording the drums, legit.
But my main qualm is whether placing the ribbon mic between the snare and hat would be detrimental towards the mic, as ribbon mics are renowned for sensitivity.
Which leads to the question; would placing my Legacy Axis 70 between the hat and the snare do damage to the microphone?

Any help would be appreciated

Not only the sensitivity, but the fact that ribbon mics are by nature figure 8 pickup pattern. If it were between the snare and hi-hat you would in essence be micing them both. It might work, but then again might not be a good idea. I suppose its worth a shot, but the high hat would and up in the center of the mix.

Oh right,
probably should've pointed out that was what I intended to do

That mic handles 137dB SPL and is meant for drums/percussion (among other things).

The only "sensitivity" with ribbons has to do with direct air blasts at the ribbon element.

If you absolutely can't afford any damage to this mic, I'd give it a miss. Otherwise take your chances, and rock the fuck out!

(just not too much, that'll break your mic :D)
