Revox PR99 Mk II: Can I use headphone output instead of line outs?

Recovering Gear-aholic
I have a Revox PR99-II that has an issue with the channel 2 line output...like, there is no output. When i got the machine it was heating up and had smoked one of the resistors (R5 or R6) on the output board, like it had a short somewhere. I replaced both resistors (L+R channels) and cleaned up the mess. It no longer has the overheating/ short circuit problem, but I do not get output on the channel 2 line outs. Something else is open circuit or fried and I have to diagnose and repair.
The headphone circuit runs a different path and functions fine.

The question is: until I get the line out problem sorted, am I in any danger of frying something else if I run the headphone output to the patch bay and then on to the line input of the next piece of gear...typically the preamp or another tape input?

No opinions? No suggestions? Nothing?

I will presume its not a bad idea.....

I've done it before, but not on a Revox. Make sure that the level is turned low, though.
