Good stuff. There are only two issues I take with the B77 - the horrible mechanical counter (fixed in the late-model PR99), and the fact that you can't get at the channel adjustments without removing the chassis from the case (the Tascam 32 has them behind a flap).

The good thing is the service manual is here:
ftp://ftp.studer.ch/public/Products/Revox_B77 MkI-MkII/Manuals/Revox_B77_MkI_MkII_Serv.pdf

..the bad thing is it's 48MB. You must use Acrobat reader.. it will eat KPDF and GPDF for breakfast. (Mind you this pales against the 260MB service manual for the B67 which probably eats Acrobat too).

I recently did a line-up on mine. After I mastered an album on it.. bummer. The levels were a bit peculiar and the capstan was running 7hz too slow, but I soon sorted that out.

You may find this amusing.. or horrifying, depending on whether you want one:

It's not that much less than what I paid for the recorder.

I mean, use a trash bag and spend the money on tape or a guitar or on something, ANYTHING more useful!

Hear, hear!

A suggestion for a covers

You know those clear thick plastic bags with the zippers that blankets come in. They make great covers for gear. Especially the big ones. I've saved about six or seven of them and use them to hold cables and they fit right over reel to reels and amps. Cut em and you can cover your keyboard or mixer.
