A while back I changed my sound settings to try and capture MIDI as a WAV file. Now when I try to record I am getting all sounds such as my metronome clicking etc and system noises - captured in the recording.

How can I default back to my original sound card settings; without reformatting?

More info - Brand / model for starters...

Double click the little speaker by the clock > go to Options > Properties > Select "adjust volume for" Recording > Click OK.
In the Recording controls, make sure you have the physical input that you are using selected (i.e. Line In or Mic In).

If I were to lower microphone levels when recorded guitar - would that stop th bar in Cubase going red going red when I start playing?

I really do need to know how to get it back to its default now. Everything is totally screwed. I can't even record with a microphone... just getting a buzzing noise.

you can do it cold by going to ControlPanel>System>hardware>dveice manager the scroll down to "audio, audio and video game controllers". find and remove the ac97, close, and then reboot the system. If you are using w2000 or Xp it will reinstall itself with the defaults.

Right I will try that. Thank you.
