Reverb in final mix/master stage?

Is it common to use reverb effects in final mixing/mastering stage?
I found out that little, just a hint of reverb will make my mixes sound more
airy... any comments?
 
I did it once, but after trying every other option to get everything to gel. It was early in my learning and came to realise I recorded every track poorly as I remember. I don't believe reverb on the master bus to be common, but I'm of the opnion: "What ever works..."
 
It's VERY common in the mixing stage... Not so common in the mastering stage.
 
Sometimes I like to put a bit of reverb with only the high freq. over the final mix, this does not smudges up the mix and gives it some airy sound.

Funny... because "air" in a mix doesn't come from reverb! (At least, not any definition of "airy" that I've ever heard...)
 
When micing up an amp, is it not true Blue bear, that by bringing the mic back a bit from the amp gives the recorded sound more "air"? And is bringing the mic back from the amp not just increasing the ratio of room reverb to source captured? (aswell as increasing the time taken for the source to reach the mic)
I would think that reverb would give a mix a sense of space and air.
 
"Air" usually means top end clarity not "space and depth"... "space and depth" means "space and depth!") ;) :p
