i have never bought resonant heads before as they tend not to wear... however, at the moment i am putting together an old kit and went to the local drum store to pick up some new heads... i sorted through and found some clear ambassadors for the batter heads, but i couldn't find anything i would call a good resonant head... so i asked the guy to ship some resonant heads in, he looked at me funny and said "why dont you just use ambassadors" i said i'd rather not.... any way the caonvertation went on for a while after that, adn basically my question is....

what do you guys use for resonant heads?

Something like Remo Diplomats will work, or Evans has heads specifically suited to be resonant heads. Basically, you want something pretty thin.

i use those evans resonant heads and they are awesome...remo seems to be stuck in 1979 when resonant heads weren't desired. Remo needs to design a good resonant head...they also need to design a good kick drum batter head--the aquarians rule over remo when it comes to this (they're also almost twice the price)

Try Aquarian Classic Clears. They've probably got what you're looking for. A hug difference from my stock Remo resonant heads.

To me, the Ambassadors are only good for Resonant heads if you are using Pinstripes.
I personally, prefer Diplomats as resonant heads.

I haven't tried Aquarians or Evans (they don't come in a 20" Floor tom head, and I like to have the same heads on my toms for a consistent sound) so I can't really comment on them.
