Replacement pickups for jazz bass

Flailing up a storm.
I recently replaced the pickups in my old strat with bill lawrences (great upgrade) and put classic '57s in an old 70's 335 knock off (amazing improvement). This has me thinking i should update the MIM fender jazz bass i have.

What are your reccomendations? Am i going to find anythign better than Lindy Fralin's? I am willing to pay upwards of $150, but hopefully not mor than that.

No.

There are other small pickup builders who also do nice stuff, but none better than Lindy. I would avoid any pickup being made by Fender, and I don't like Seymour Duncan's passive bass pickups (though if you want active, those are very nice). The other thing you might look at, which I like a great deal, is the Dimarzio Ultra Jazz set. For a quiet version of a classic J, they are excellent. If you just want the super classic J and are not worried about the noise, go with the Fralins.

Fralins or Bartolinis.............I have a set of passive Bartolinis in my 5 string Guild Pilot and they have a very balanced tone. They do need a pre for real high output but I play pretty hard so its a moot point for me.

Both great pickups, but totally different. Bartolinis are very clean modern sounding pickups. Fralins are a very classic J pickups, with that classic throaty growl of the best old J-basses.

I Like the Dimarzios I also like these GFS JB Pro Jazz Bass Style Alnico Pickups- Neck and Bridge sets from Guitar fetish.
Great sounding pups for around 40 bucks delivered.
