naw, ultametly unlimited possibilites for the arrangement of sound waves.
Despite an education system (here in the US) that stresses standardized testing and minimizes the arts, the en vouge over-compressed sound, I still hear new bands all the time that are unique. I guess it comes down to how you define unique, but I'm thinking dictionary definition, so even two songs with the same progression sung by two seprate singers becomes unique...other thing to consider is the digital revolution has and will continue to provide new opportunities for new sound design.

This argument has been circling since the Beatles and it's still bollocks... The charts are crap we all know it, rarely does any original or interesting appear there, but for some reason the mass media still hail it as some sort of wobbly benchmark.
The list of successful talent that has never charted (unless by accident) is huge. And yes there are only so many ways you can put a song together but I still hear new stuff every day.

Yes i think that if a person want to be stand alone then he can stand may be one have to face various difficulties but everything is possible.

The music industry has completely changed.

There are so many new ways to market music. Days of stocking record stores with vinyl singles and Casey Kasem on the weekends are long gone. The charts don't mean anything.

Like the movie industry, the music industry can't afford to take chances any more. It always was a business, but in the past there was some leeway for risk taking. The music companies were the only game in town. Not today. Get some no-talent dream teen to front a no-talent band and do Monkees covers with a sterile beat. Ooooo! Ahhhhh! Don't forget to add a producer that doesn't know how to mix tracks properly. So you get "safe" music. The same music that we've been conditioned to accept for the past twenty years. Nothing innovative from the big music industry.
