before fully reading the manual for my tascam porta 02, i plugged a pair of mono headphones with a 1/4 inch adapter into the machine. according to the manual, i may have broken one of the headphone amplifiers, which explains why i can only hear on the left. so, does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to get this part fixed or replaced? thanks/

If in fact you have blown one side of the headphone amp circuit, I could see the repair costing you somewhere around 75 dollars to repair, based on parts, labor and taxes.

Have you plugged in a stereo pair of headphones yet, into the Portastudio to verify if the amp is blown, or, are we still working with your mono headphone and adapter plug?

Borrow a pair of stereo headphones from a friend or relative and double check before you un-necessarily take the unit for service.

You might get lucky and only need to purchase a stereo pair of headphones!

Cheers! :)

hmmm, for 75 dollars, im not sure its totally worth it for me. i'm not recording anything too advanced and all the tracks that i record are pretty much in the middle anyway. if i continue to use the mono headphones with the adapter, could i further damage the amp to the point of not being able to use it at all? if so i'll invest in some stereo headphones. thanks ghost, it's a real help.
