What are some common techniques for remote recording? Ie. Artist in one city or location, recording studio in another. Could anyone list some of the gear used, codecs or at least send me to an internet site that miay have some current info?

Collaborations can work but what specifically do you want to do? The artist will need to be within 50ft or so of some type of recorder. You can then send the tracks to somebody else for mixing.

Actually recording over the internet will only give you marginal quality and is really only a gimmick unless you have dedicated T3 lines and some pretty sophisticated hardware. Even then it's really not worth the trouble.

Actually, I want talk about this in my recording class. All my information is old and likely out of date. Stuff like using codecs like APT-X or Musican. Hoping to find out what people are using now. I am looking for professional real-time remote recording methods.
