In a recording situation for tonal color, sure! Even for silly little dutch boys, it's ok! The real bottom line is.....go with your ears.
But unless permission is granted by the bassist on a live gig, I'd keep my eye on him.

I really like this song.. The mix has been covered.. This is a great melody imop.. very nice.. I agree with the previous comments regarding bass etc.. Even with that, it was still a great listen.
