Hello

I need some help on using my Yamaha MG16/6fx for home recordings

My equipment:

Mixing desk - Yamaha MG16/6fx
Computer - Mac book pro
DAW Software - Loigc Pro 9
Audio Interface - Line 6 UX2

I recently bought the MG16/6fx because one of the Mic inputs on my UX2 got smashed up

I want to be able to record multiple sources using different microphones

Heres what i have set up so far

I have the UX2 plugged into my mac book pro, Then i have used a stero 1/4" to Phono cable which is plugged into the rec out of my yamaha desk. I managed to get a signal from two mics in logic but when recording, the were coming through on the same track.

Is this because of the UX2? Do i need to purchase another audio interface? What would be the best interface to use for recording with the Yamaha MG16/6fx?

Any advice would be great!!!

Thanks Ali Q-T

A "stereo" 1/4 inch to mono phono/RCA connector?

And what did you plug it into? You said where it came from but not where it went to. I can't see that you have more that one mono input if you have a 2 channel interface with one dead channel and a laptop with probably only a single mic in...

Are you seeing the problem?

Read the "Mixers and Home Recording" thread at the top of the forum. You don't need a mixer to just record two microphones. That's what an interface does....

Most times, you don't need a mixer at all. Why do you have one?
