I just recorded this song with the V57, with a homemade pop filter of coat hanger and panty hose, through the $50 Behringer mixer, and into my Sharp MD. I also had my core sounds stealth mic plugged in, but despite the gain being turned all the way up on it's channel, it was barely audilble. I know this should be under the live recording section, but I am searching for a mic opinion. I have been looking at the Audio Technica 4040, and 4050, to use as my main mic. Any ideas on how this will work with this set up, and the difference in quality? Is it worth moving up to it? Thanks, and I look forward to your feedback.

An AT40 series mics seems so much in a different league than all the gear you listed. If you've got some rigged up pop and you're using a $50 Behringer mixer then I'm going to guess your cables aren't that hot either. I think you'd definitely notice a difference if you got an AT4050 but you may be better off getting a better mic pre, cables and D/A converter.
