Recording with snakes?

I'm ordering mic cables for my drum mic set. Is there anything wrong with just getting a snake of 6 cables in a recording environment?
 
I only came here to make a hiss joke but somehow it doesn't feel right anymore.

Using snakes is fine. Best is to use high quality balanced ones to avoid interference and signal degradation.

You could use a 100' snake. It'll be fine.
 
All a snake is, is multiple cables bound together, for ease of use. Use 'em and be happy.
 
You still need the same amount of microphone cables if you have a snake or not, that is if it's a conventional snake with fan tails in one end and a stage box on the other.
 
Yup. I use a 30 metre/100 foot snake when recording as a matter of course and it's absolutely fine. It's good quality cable with Neutrik connectors and I've never had even a hint of a problem.

....except sometimes it "rattles" in its storage box. And if the snake gets dusty I have to use a viper to clean it.

I make it a habit of never recording with reptiles!

Though the only way of knowing the sex of a snake is that the males stand up to hiss.

This fellow lives in the garden outside my "control room" (otherwise known as Bedroom 3) window and always lets me know when I'm getting too bass heavy:

A) Sure - Get a snake.

B) Don't get a snake that's "just big enough" for now -- Because it won't be next month. If you think you need a 6, get a 12x4.
 
You don't want the snake to be too big because thats just showing off!
 
It's not the size of your snake, it's what you do with it (as the actress said to the bishop).
 
eugh....if your gona make snake jokes, someone can say my attitude there was charming!

My pet snake is trying to sue me but he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
