Recording with lot of noise

Hi,

I use Sound Forge 6.0. I tried for the first time yesterday. I connected my guitar amp's headphone jack to the mic input on my computer and tried recording what I played on the guitar. Two things happen. The sound processor's effect is almost totally removed and the noise level is way to high making everything sound extremely distorted.

My connection setup is
Guitar -> Zoom Processor -> Guitar Amplifier -> Mic In on Computer.

Any suggestion?

Try going from the output of the Zoom to the Line In of the soundcard (maybe get a Y cable so you can still run it to the amp also), don't use the Mic In. Of course this all depends on the soundcard you are using and whether the Zoom has a line level output. If you must use the headphone out of the amp, do not run it through a preamp (specially a crappy mic pre on a standard soundcard).
