Hopefully this hasn't been asked already. I'm new to midi so this is probably why i'm having this problem.

I have a Roland VS-2000 Workstation. I have been able to record everything great decent except for my keyboard. I have a Casio WK 3000 Keyboard which only has a midi out as means of connecting to another instrument or device. I've tried to hook up the midi to my roland straight through a midi chord but there is no sound at all - just the midi light flashes. Also some guy from Jim's music told me to get this wire/chord that hooks up to my keyboards Heaphone jack and it splits out into 2 1/4' cables - but with this the sound quality SUCKS and its not loud enough. ANy suggestions?

midi is not audio....it is just data....so yes, you will need to use the headphone out to get the audio over. You will probably need to play with the volume on the keyboard as well as your input levels on the recorder to get a better sound. Try a different cable as well, if adjusting the levels doesn't help.

And you can just use a guitar cable to get a mono signal into the recorder...instead of the stereo split...sometimes that is preferred depending on how much stuff you have going on in the song.

Here's another BBS for users of the VS series....lots of info there:
