Hello,

I'm making a study of recording techniques like compression, EQ,
gating, etc.

So I'm in search of recorded material (songs, demo's...) that I can use for practice.
Nice would be kind of a practice CD with unpolished audio tracks and the same tracks mastered by a pro who gives comments on it.

That kind of material can sometimes be found on CD Roms that come with technical books on the subject.

Do you have some tips for me?
Thanks for your help.

I started a Drum mixing type of clinic here but I didnt finish it as I got held up with loads of work. I plan on finishing it this summer (I hope).

I had 7 members here working with me and the drums were downloaded by them to work on to process as we went through the various stages.

The drum tracks are 8 (raw) tracks of a kit
Kick
Snare
Toms (Left - right)
OH (stereo)
Hi hat
Ambiance (single)

Feel free to DL them and play around. If you want to join and there is room you can. I first have to check if the original "cast" is still around.

Meanwhile you can hear some samples of different recording issues from raw to processed, using compression-Reverb-Eq (on drums) and gates.

There are sample songs that come with most multitrack recorders. Maybe you can pay somebody at a local music store a few bucks to put one on CD for you.

Shaillat, I would like to join the drum clinic if possible..

Thanks,
Mike

No problem Mike only...... If there isnt room then you can join along and receive the files and the sessions that come with them but as the plan is to listen to the files of the people that participate and return it with remarks and again listen....I might have to skip that part with you as I have a dial up and Downloading for me is pure agony....

So - send me an email at mwohl@inter.net.il and download the files off the site and I'll send you the first session we did.
If you can download PT free that will make life a lot easier for you as I am using PT, but you can still work with any software of your choice.

Many thanks Shailat for your generous offer! Also thanks to Participant and TexRoadkill for the useful tips.

All suggestions welcome and highly appreciated!
Thanks to everybody who wants to spend some time and energy to help me out!
