Is there any way to record streaming radio content from real audio player ideally to an mp3 file or wav file ? Or is there any other software out there which can facilitate radio recording into mp3 files or wav files ?Thanks all.

this is an interesting question that ive often asked my self. for answers i was told maybe using two soundcards. ??? i also know off hand that the real audio format offers the maker the option of allowing the listener to save the file. chances are in your case they said no. but sometimes if theres something i really like i just plug my computer headphone jack - through a "y" adaptor - into my home stereo and record the stream on my tape deck.

I haven't tried specifically, but is there a reason you couldn't just "jump" the line-out back to the line-in and record the stream that way?

interesting. are you suggesting that you just go from the headphone output (headphone is the only output on my laptop) back into the linein? im not an expert on the innards of a soundcard. i just know that in Ghostbusters they said you dont want to cross the streams. it seems to me you're getting dangerously close to doing just that.

Just tried it... works rather well - not audiophile quality, but then again, neither are the audio streams. Its pretty much the same as recording the stream from the line-out out to a cassette deck or something..............

Well there's your shortcut for ya.... I'm not sure why anyone would have warned you against trying it - it's not like you can damage anything - it will simply work or it will not.

alright. as jim carrey puts it in his new role as the grinch, "Brilliant!"
case closed.
