Hi Guys,
This is my first post here. I recently purchased a PreSonus Firebox 24-bit/96k console and I'm trying to record vocals and guitar using an MXL 990 and a standard SM57, respectively. As far as software goes, I'm just working with GarageBand to cut demos.

For some reason, when I record through the console, the playback on GarageBand is only in one ear. I understand that guitar and vocals are both mono instruments, but I want the playback to be panned to the center with the guitar and vocal audible in both speakers/headphones.

Have any of you had a similar problem? Is there something obvious I'm forgetting to do, or could the problem be with my hardware (I'm still within the exchange period)?

Thanks in advance.

Is everything panned to center in garageband? The meters should show a mono signal. I don't have garageband, but it should have some kind of meters at the output. If you recorded to only one channel, and that channel is panned hard right or left, then you will only get sound in one speaker or ear. I doubt if your presonus is bad out of the box. The meters should be showing you a mono signal (left or right light bar lighting).

Thanks for the reply. The problem ended up being that I hadn't changed the input setting to mono from stereo.
