Your right about needing a little variation... the song is over 6 minutes (sorry jeap) and long discussions have taken place about how we could cut it down but we can't bear to take the scissors to any of it...

ha!

it would be easy to fade it out at 3 minutes and post a shorter version for the forums.

at any rate you can keep that in mind. people here prefer 3 minute tunes to 6 minute tunes and so do radio shows.

i think youre onto something. maybe your kind of act is more common over there but i like it and i think it would go over well here.

i heard an album years ago, i thought it was by the pogues, that sounded like that. i went out and bought their greatest hits and there was nothing i liked. your tune reminds me of that. the stuff i liked not the stuff i didnt like.

Mate it all happens in the last 3 minutes the first 3 just set the scene...

I'm sorry it's a large file... but it's staying large... and I'm really not worried about radio... it's an album track... if people can't spare 6 minutes out of their hectic schedules to listen to a song then I'm not about to try and change them... they probably won't like our music anyway...

Nah the sound is not common over here either... in fact most scottish bands don't even sound scottish.... if you let the accent start to come through people start to compare you to The Proclaimers.. and the Proclaimers don't always have a good rep over here... they kick ass in My Humble Opinion... (damn these band names keep getting better and better!)

I tell you what Jeap.... lets get two tin cans and a huge piece of string... I'll sing it down the wire to you...

Well, a few days ago I saw a link to your site from a reply you had made and by the criticism you made in that post I figured you were somewhat seasoned. So I listened to Southern Road. I really liked it. I never listen to anything like that. The recording sounded flawless to me. I'd have a hard time suggesting anything at all that isn't obvious like better equipment or whatever, but that's not helpful.

Good song, good singing. Nice and steady. The other song however, didn't hold up. I don't know what kind of band you are trying to create but I guess it'd be hard to make every song sound like Southern Road. Prozac obviously had too loud of vocals and not very interesting music effects. But keep up the effort.

Nah i'm not seasoned... i'm just beginning...

just ignore After the Prozac... it's not really representative of what we are trying to do...

I'm glad you think it would be hard to make every song sound like southern road... that tells me we're doing something right...

cheers for listening

If any of you forum visitors are on dialup or worried about downloading a song that isn't very good, take my word that this is a good song. Give it a shot. Or check out some of the more alternative/metal songs in my signature. I still like this song, though. It's held up. (OK, no more cheerleading)
