Recording Live dance concerts.

I just bought the cannon Powershot SX40 HS and went to go see Deadmau5 live. The microphone could not handle the thumping of the bass, so I bought the Zoom H1. Any tips on this microphone? What levels should I be using? Or an other EXTERNAL microphone I can use to capture the bass. Note It can not be a plug in microphone because my camera does not have a input.

Set the levels that they will never exceed -12 (It's better to leave headroom). Later open up the recorded file in sound editor and raise the levels.
