My other guitarist has Line 6 that we dont use anymore cause we both have peavey 5150's, but we heard that Line 6's are good for recording with. I'm trying to figure the best way to record with line 6 straight to my computer. I have a decent sound card. Also i need some recommendations (other then pro tools) for recording software, something like Adobe Audition, is that any good, or cubasis. We use alot of distortion since we are in a Death/Hardcore Metal band.

thanks in advance for any helpful replies !!!

What kind of sound card do you have? Is the Line 6 the POD or the amp? And which one?

For software, there's Adobe Audition which is good for just recording audio.

There's also Reaper which is fully functional, and unexpiring shareware and only costs about $40 whenever you decide to buy it. Just as good, if not better, than a lot of the really expensive programs.

Its the Spider II Head. And I've decided on Adobe Audition. So I need to know the best way to record with the Spider II head, and a good way to record with a mic. I'm looking at both opitions

I have a Realtek 5.1 Sound Card.

line 6 DI is great for layering. Id see if you cant come up with a sm57 or "equivalent" and also record your 5150's

I always try to split the signal so that I get a clean DI, plus the miked amp. Tons of threads on that technique, itll let you edit easily later on, or reamp if you need to

yeah, so we just gota vocalist and with him he brought a badass Tascam 2488 24track digital recorder. Its working pretty well. I'm in the process of getting some Shure SM57's to mic my Peavey 5150 and my other Guitarists Peavey Valveking. Were probably going to be getting matching Mesa Cabs so that should make the sound even nicer. We also are trying to get a good 5-piece mic kit for the drums. been looking at Audix, any other recommendations that are a lil cheaper.
