Whenever I'm recording drums, the Hi-Hats never pick up even when I have the level all the way up on the mixer. I always give a microphone just for the hi-hat (and yes, its turned on) and still doesn't pick up. Is it my hi-hats or is there something else wrong? Everything else picks up just fine.

Will were on the subject of recording drums, can anyone give me some tips on how to setup mics for recording drums, like where the best place would be to place the mics.

Any help is appreciated.

First what kind of mic....second, is the mic picking up anything? is it a bleed problem or is the mic just broken (im not trying to be funny)...if its a bleed problem, try different mic placement...how many mics are you using on the whole kit?....usually the two overheads catch the cymbals and hats, and then do a highpass filter to get the lowend junk off......

for the second part of your question, how many and what type mics do you have?....ive seen suggestions on this board on how to mic a kit with from 1 mic on up to 8, and probably more if i looked......
